1. “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig:

5/5

While this book is quite popular, I cannot recommend it enough. Immerse yourself in the world of the Midnight Library, where lost souls explore the many infinite possibilities and rediscover paths that they never took. This novel offers a beautiful exploration of regret, second chances, and understanding what happiness truly is. I cannot recommend this book enough and it is truly a great read you should pick up this summer.

2. “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

4/5

This book is set in post-World War II in England, it takes you on a journey through letters as the writer Juliet Aston discovers the enchanting world of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. This book felt like a cup of hot tea and a blanket, just super warm and cozy, and makes you feel bundled up. Filled with many charming characters, historical insights, and a beautiful touch of romance, it celebrates the power and impact of literature and human connection.

3. “The Flatshare” by Beth O’Leary

4/5

Tiffy and Leon, two strangers who need some affordable housing in London, decide to share a flat (or apartment) and a bed, but at different times. With her working the morning shift and his night shift, they never meet in person, only through very witty post-it note exchanges. A friendship gradually forms, and their relationship becomes something beautiful. This heartwarming and creative love story will make you smile and laugh. It was a super fast read and kept me interested the whole time.

4. “Love Wager” by Lynn Painter

4.5/5

While we know and love Lynn Painter for her young adult book, “Better Than The Movies,” Love Wager is a recent new adult release. This book is super fast-paced and is about two people who make a wager on who can find love first, not realizing that they probably should have bet on each other. I loved this book, it was super fast-paced and I adore Lynn Painter, I think she is an amazing writer and additionally, I greatly recommend her other books “Better than the Movies” and “Mr. Wrong Number.”

5. “Carrie Soto Is Back” by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5/5

I feel like this book just secretes (for lack of a better word) summer vibes. This book is about a female tennis player who makes a big comeback and comes out of retirement to ensure she stays the best in the world. This book felt super motivating to me it explores themes of never giving up, accepting yourself and who you are, loving, and breaking through barriers. It was a beautiful and fast-paced read that I would recommend to anyone.

6.“Part of Your World” by Abby Jimenez

5/5

I genuinely loved this book, it was filled with everything someone would want and need and more. This book is set in a small town most of the time but also a big city (as you can see from the cover). This book is a perfect romance filled with many emotions. It was such an enjoyable and fast-paced read that was lighthearted but still discussed important issues and topics. It explores physical and emotional abuse and how abuse can take more than one shape and form in a very beautiful and comforting way. I recommend this book to anyone and it would seriously be an amazing read for this summer. (also there is a crepe recipe at the end that is delicious)

7. “The Bodyguard” by Katherine Center

4.5/5

This book was amazing. Usually with any bodyguard romance book, you expect the guy to be protecting the girl, BUT this book was the opposite. So, to give a quick summary, Hannah Gates, a bodyguard at a very large and prestigious bodyguard agency, is hired to protect Jack Stapleton, a famous Hollywood actor. To remain undercover, she has to protect him while he is at home and visiting his family by pretending to be his girlfriend. This book had amazing humor and is a really well-done fake dating trope. I highly recommend it, super fast-paced and a great summer read!

8.“How to Love your neighbor” by Sophie Sullivan

4/5

This book is the perfect cutesy romance book. Grace Travis, the main character, moves in next to Noah Jansen after her grandmother left her beach house when she passed away. Noah is upset because he is a real estate developer and wants to purchase this property, which she obviously refuses to do. Sooooo, perfect enemies to Lovers brews up and leaves us with an amazing quick summer read. A great book to refresh yourself and get out of a slump.

9. “Beach Read” by Emily Henry

5/5

I know, I know, very basic and you have probably read it already, but cmon? Do you really think I am going to do a summer book recommendation blog post and NOT include this book? This book is the epitome of summer. Both main characters are authors who are in somewhat of a writing slump. They both hate each other because of their years in college (so this IS enemies to lovers) and decide to switch genres to try something new. In their time trying to help out each other, they end up forming a beautiful bond that I bet you will enjoy reading.

10.“Float” by Kate Merchant

4/5

This is a cutesy, ya summer beachy read. If you need something quick to get you out of a reading slump, read this book. It was super fast-paced, next-door neighbor, coming of age, all that sweet jazz compiled into a book. It is about a girl who is caught in the middle of her parent’s divorce. This summer, she is caught in the middle between who she is going to spend her summer vacation with. The main character says bye to Alaska and goes to Florida to stay with her aunt. The beach culture isn’t exactly her forte, untillll Blake, the boy next door, enters the chat.

Conclusion

With the summer season beckoning us to slow down every once in a while and appreciate life's simple pleasures, there is no better time than to pick up a book and read. The books listed above can hopefully help you in enjoying this summer and relax just that tiny bit more. So go ahead, pick up a book, and let the paper and ink take you somewhere you have never been before.

Happy reading!

best,
